Lumetta’s Acoustic Drum Pendant Lighting Instituted at NSC’s Innovative Training Environment for Next-Gen TeachersAugust 2022

The new Glenn and Ande Christenson School of Education Building located on the campus of Nevada State College in Henderson, NV, includes classrooms, hands-on learning spaces, labs, speech-language pathology areas, offices, and a state-of-the-art preschool with an innovative educational environment to train new preschool teachers and help alleviate Nevada’s teacher shortage. The collaborating Design Team of Burke Construction and Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects were asked to create an environment that through color and light would welcome both small children and college students. These “collision spaces” were designed along hallways, as the main lobby became the “living room”. Team rooms, a grad lounge, and cooperative spaces also fortified the main lobby, creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Lumetta’s Acoustic Drum Pendants were chosen to sublimely illuminate these interdependent spaces as our acoustic lighting is favored for its aesthetic beauty and functionality. Lumetta’s Acoustic Collection consists of drums, tapers, and linear shapes that pair illumination and design with sound dampening attributes. Noise levels and vibration are controlled while the synergy between the striking handcrafted luminaires and the superior acoustic features is greatly enhanced.

The project was awarded the 2021 Award of Merit, ENR, Southwest Best Projects – Higher Education Construction, and 2021 AIA – State/Regional Awards

A Day in the Life of Lumetta’s National Sales ManagerAugust 2022

As the Lumetta National Sales Manager, What’s Your Typical Day Like? One of the major responsibilities I’ve been given is to establish productive, professional relationships within our channel partner accounts.

To achieve this, I’ll work closely with our Marketing and Product Development teams and share what’s trending in the industry. By doing this, I can assist in the direction of our products and make sure our clients’ needs and expectation will be fully met.

What Do You Enjoy Most About Working for Lumetta? I love helping customers and building relationships. By asking the right questions and listening carefully to our clients, I can find the perfect lighting solutions to meet their specifications. It’s a rewarding part of the job with a lot of collaboration and team camaraderie involved.

What Do You Find Most Challenging About Your Role at Lumetta? The market changes quickly–it’s hypercompetitive and constantly evolving. We can’t control external circumstances, but we continue to be successful because our products are beautiful, flexible, and high-quality. Not all our customers know exactly what they want so I make sure to ask a lot of questions and thoroughly understand their needs.

What Do You Feel is the Best Part About Working for Lumetta? Lumetta has a wonderful company culture and team spirit. Everyone within the organization is a true professional. We learn from each other and share the same vision. We respect and value what each of us brings to the table. We’re all dedicated to the development of innovative new products–and of course, the continued success of the company.

How Do You Work to Achieve and Exceed Your Goals? Sales has always been a “people” position. With that being said, I make it a point to understand why the client is buying, and what their timeline and budget look like.

I also credit much of my success to the strength of my team. There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes teamwork that goes into our products that helps us surpass our goals. Our team’s resiliency is key.

A Day in the Life of Lumetta’s Marketing ManagerAugust 2022

As the Lumetta Marketing Manager, What’s Your Typical Day Like? There’s never truly a “typical day” at Lumetta. The main objective of my position is to understand our customers and build awareness about our lighting products to satisfy their needs. I collaborate with the team to reach our audiences and drive engagement for our brand in a multitude of ways.

What Do You Enjoy Most About Working for Lumetta? I love working with the creative and sales teams to create Lumetta’s public facing communications. While earning customer trust and helping the sales team expand our reach I’m constantly learning and taking on new and exciting challenges.

What Do You Find Most Challenging About Your Role at Lumetta? Accessing new marketing alternatives has always been challenging–it means exposing ourselves to new competitors. However, we’ve been partnering with other brands and cross marketing in the same genre very successfully. It’s allowed us to introduce Lumetta to a new segment of consumers.

What Do You Feel is the Best Part About Working for Lumetta? Lumetta continues to create a “small family company” vibe. We’re able to have open collaboration between our teams and the leadership is very approachable.

How Do You Work to Achieve and Exceed Your Goals? Lumetta’s built our reputation on our customer-centric philosophy. By providing a clear roadmap that includes making exceptional products, being committed to our company values, and building ironclad relationships with our customers, the company has established strong guidelines that allow me to be fully engaged in not only meeting but exceeding Lumetta’s visionary goals.

A Day in the Life of Lumetta’s Art DirectorJuly 2022

As the Lumetta Art Director, What’s Your Typical Day Like? The day-to-day varies greatly for me. I may be designing new layouts for our website, planning our next brochure, working on custom graphics for a project, photographing our lighting products, etc. No two days are ever the same.

What Do You Enjoy Most About Working for Lumetta? I enjoy collaborating with the team and creating design material for a variety of different platforms.

What Do You Find Most Challenging About Your Role at Lumetta? The toughest part has been looking at data trends, while staying true to our instincts–which have served us well in the past. Also, prioritizing projects has been a bit of a challenge. There are many wonderful ideas being shared by the team that we’d like to see come to fruition. However, these projects take time, and we need to fit them into a manageable schedule.

What Do You Feel is the Best Part About Working for Lumetta? The best part about working for Lumetta is that I have an opportunity to be a part of a resilient, hard-working group of individuals who are artists in their own right. Everything is made in-house, which is pretty awesome and uncommon in the industry.

How Do You Work to Achieve and Exceed Your Goals? I work in tandem with Sales, Marketing, Product Design, and Manufacturing to produce new design concepts that speak to our audience. By utilizing shared knowledge and working together, we find success both individually and as a team.

YSU Finds Creative Inspiration in Lumetta’s Illumination of Seminar RoomJuly 2022

Ohio’s Youngstown State University is a student-centered university, providing innovative lifelong learning opportunities that inspire individuals, enhance futures, and enrich lives.

The University recently remodeled their Kilcawley Center‘s Ohio Room (now designated the “Attorney Daniel L. Rossi Room”). The space offers an open floor plan that is perfect for seating up to 200 people for small seminars, banquets, and conferences.

The original venue was dark and slightly somber, therefore resident architect Summer Barker, who specializes in interior and sustainable design, was tasked with working within the limitations of the unusually low ceiling. Because Barker was unable to access this ceiling space, she opted for the installation of sixteen of Lumetta’s large 48” OD x 8” H Modified Drum Pendants to illuminate the space.

The fixtures utilized DL25 Celest Grey Design Lumenate® diffusers, influenced by the latest interior design and fashion trends. The pendant frames were finished in Power Coat White, with white acrylic top lenses and etched white acrylic bottom lenses. The specification of these large luminaires in juxtaposition with the low ceiling made for a bold and beautiful statement.

Because the lack of access into the ceiling made dimming difficult, it was decided that Lumetta’s LED lamping in conjunction with wireless Bluetooth controlled dimming would be the perfect solution to illuminate the multi-use room properly.

Lumetta was the manufacturer of choice for their fixture flexibility, ease of wireless dimming, and infinite Lumenate® and Design Lumenate® options, earmarking their products as the lighting solution that would address any concerns.

The project was extremely successful and the completed installation’s appeal and functionality were well received by the university’s faculty and students.

A Day in the Life of Lumetta’s Product Design LeadJune 2022

As the Lumetta Design Lead, What’s Your Typical Day Like? I’ll usually work on a few different design projects, most often in collaboration with others. I might work with production and engineering to prototype a new product we’re working or spend some time drawing or modeling some conceptual product designs. I could have a meeting with an outside vendor to discuss new materials they offer or maybe I’m meeting internally to coordinate messaging and presentation of a recent or upcoming product release.

What Do You Enjoy Most About Working for Lumetta? Working together to create beautiful, high quality products destined to help light and decorate so many different spaces.

What Do You find Most Challenging About Your Role at Lumetta? Most Rewarding? Managing project constraints (time, cost, risk, project scope, manufacturability etc.) is a challenging but very important part of what I do. Most rewarding is the collaborative work we do to build and improve processes that allow for new and exciting products and make for an overall more enjoyable and engaging work place.

What Do You Feel is the Best Part About Working for Lumetta? The best part about working at Lumetta is the opportunity to work with so many talented people that sincerely care about what they do and how they do it. The culture of continuous improvement and sustainable growth has been key to the success of the company and something I’ve always been proud to be a part of.

Custom Shadow Box Pendants Showcased at Shiki Sushi and Asian Fusion RestaurantJune 2022

Lumetta’s Custom Shadow Box Pendants Showcased at Shiki Sushi and Asian Fusion Restaurant

Shiki Sushi Asian Bistro, a premier sushi and Asian fusion cuisine eatery, located in Raleigh, NC, had undergone two separate expansions totaling 6,700 sf within an odd-shaped building.

The restaurant contracted Finley Design PA Architects & Interiors, of Durham, NC, to design a new 10,000 sf space in an adjacent space. The striking design features bold folding wall and ceiling planes that define the space in contrast to the existing structure.

Dramatic lighting and a limited palette of colors give the space a vibrant consistency with an extremely efficient layout. Lumetta’s Custom Shadow Box Pendants were specified to illuminate the dining area. The large amber colored luminaires offered a classic, clean lined silhouette that enhanced the unique surroundings.

The light reflecting on the ceiling and dispersing softly throughout the restaurant created a powerful yet relaxed mood to the environment.

Fabricated from welded steel / aluminum with a washable and antimicrobial exterior TransLumenate® diffuser and a washable antimicrobial core Lumenate® diffuser, the magnificent pendants were the perfect solution for both design aesthetics and restaurant cleanliness.

As always, made in the USA by our designers, engineers, and artisans.
