Foon Lok West, meaning “Joyous Community” in Cantonese, aptly embodies its name. Situated in the Brooklyn Basin neighborhood of Oakland, this six-story project provides 130 affordable family apartments with scenic waterfront views. Additionally, residents can enjoy the presence of custom artwork, vibrant murals, and convenient access to the surrounding community.
In the entrance, HKIT Architects opt for Lumetta’s L2 Acoustic Pendant Lighting, enhancing the ambiance. Complementing the vibrant mural, these pendant lights effectively address noise control while maintaining an appealing aesthetic. Crafted from recycled PET board fiber felt, these pendants not only add to the design but also provide acoustic comfort, seamlessly merging style with sound absorption.
With the aim of obtaining LEED Certification, the project incorporates a variety of sustainable features. These include the utilization of recycled content materials, energy- and water-efficient appliances, photovoltaic and solar thermal systems, as well as drought-tolerant landscaping.
