Through vision, innovation, creativity, and collaboration, we can modify any of our existing products or fully customize them to bring your unique design vision to life. Every lighting fixture is fabricated from scratch using a hands-on approach, allowing for easy customization of design, scale, light source, and diffuser effects to achieve a distinct, tailored look.

Lumetta has long embraced modern American made lighting manufacturing practices to produce our dynamic line of ceiling, wall, and portable luminaires. As lighting technologies have evolved, so have we, expanding our offerings with hundreds of finishes and lamping combinations to meet the needs of today’s commercial design environments.

Lumetta complies with the Buy American Act.

Proudly Made in the USA

Supporting the Buy American Act

In 1933, Congress passed the Buy American Act in response to the Great Depression, aiming to strengthen the U.S. economy by prioritizing American-made goods in the federal procurement process.

The Act restricts the purchase of non-domestic products for federal contracts, requiring that the cost of U.S. manufactured components exceeds 50% of the total cost of all components used in the final product.

For over 30 years, Lumetta has proudly complied with the Buy American Act, supporting American jobs and manufacturing. Our state-of-the-art facility in Warwick, Rhode Island produces decorative commercial luminaires that are 100% Buy American compliant delivering quality, reliability, and integrity in every fixture we make.

From a Passion for Materials to a Legacy in Light

The Lumetta Story

“Working with new materials was always an adventure for me. My father was an engineer. My mother, an artist. Their shop and studio were my playground.”

Bill’s path was anything but ordinary. He pursued engineering, then mathematics, and eventually biology before finding his way back to art through teaching. A friendship with the head of an art department rekindled his creative spirit and led to nearly two decades of painting, sculpture, and architectural projects, all of which laid the foundation for founding Lumetta in 1992.

He began by sending 4×5 transparencies of three original designs to 30 magazines; seven featured his work. Soon, more than 2,000 catalog requests came in.

“I didn’t know the difference between a purchase order and an invoice, but I knew this was going to work. It had to because this is what I was meant to be doing.”

A partnership with Lightolier’s Bill Blitzer led to a large production run that sparked a breakthrough: the invention of Lumenate®, a proprietary lighting material that would become the core of Lumetta’s identity.

I sent 4×5 transparencies of my first 3 products to 30 different magazines. Seven magazines featured my designs. Soon I was flooded with over 2,000 requests for my catalog. At that point, I didn’t know the difference between a purchase order and an invoice, but I knew this was going to work. It had to, because this is what I felt I was meant to be doing.

My designs caught the eye of Bill Blitzer of Lightolier notoriety. Rather than sell my designs, we agreed that I would design 3 fixtures for them and produce them. An initial order of 700 pieces made it clear that I must seek different materials to meet production demand. To satisfy the demand, I developed a revolutionary process designed for production, leading to the creation of Lumenate®. Lumenate® would soon become the backbone of our reputation.

For the past 25 years, I have had the privilege of watching employees thrive, buy cars, get married, have children, and buy homes. When the business first started taking off, I expanded into a 12,000-sq. ft. building in West Warwick, RI. Today, we are located in Warwick, in a 34,000-sq. ft. facility with state-of-the-art equipment that I never dreamed of when I was bending wire by hand in my shop in Jamestown, RI.

From humble beginnings in a Jamestown workshop to a 34,000-sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Warwick, Rhode Island, Bill built more than a company, he built a culture of curiosity, innovation, and craft. Along the way, he watched his team grow, buying homes, raising families, and finding pride in their work.

After Bill’s unexpected passing in 2021, his son Ian Prichett stepped into leadership, continuing the mission with the same spirit of integrity and hands-on creativity. Today, Lumetta remains rooted in its values—collaborative, innovative, and proudly American-made.
